Daniel Farke believes Glen Kamara was ‘crucial’ to Leeds United’s win over Bristol City on Saturday.
Farke was speaking in his post-match press conference after Leeds secured back-to-back victories for the first time in almost a year.
Kamara was an unused substitute in Leeds’ 1-0 success over Queens Park Rangers in midweek, but was brought straight back into the line-up against the Robins.
The 27-year-old played a big role in Leed’s opening goal of the afternoon, with an initial turn in midfield opening up the space for the Whites to attack.
Once that initially broke down, Kamara was quickly on hand to win the ball back in Bristol City’s area, before Georginio Rutter’s cross eventually found its way to Dan James to score.
Farke says Kamara was ‘crucial’ to Leeds win
Speaking on Kamara’s performance after the game, Farke says his passing ‘between the lines’ was ‘crucial’ to breaking down a ‘solid side like Bristol City.
He said: “Always capable to find the passes between the lines. Bristol City so solid we have to be today in these moments. Got the feeling we wanted to have recovered Glen Kamara on the pitch because he was not involved on Wednesday. First goal, smart movement and find Piroe, then terrific strike to score out of counter pressing. Also crucial.
Kamara was making just his third start for Leeds following his summer move from Rangers, and there is no doubt it was his best in a white shirt so far.
Having looked accomplished against Watford, Kamara appeared more confident to dribble and progress the ball with his passing, which was really important.
Leeds have plenty of options available in the centre of midfield but his performance today may have just made it his own for now.
