Giulian Biancone has left Nottingham Forest to join Olympiacos on a permanent deal.

The Frenchman joined Steve Cooper’s side last summer on a three-year deal from Ligue 1 side Troyes. But a devastating knee injury in training ruled him out of action for much of the season

Biancone played just three games for the Reds since his arrival at the City Ground in July last year. His most recent appearance was in the 0-0 draw at Brighton on October 18.

And now the defender has completed the switch to Greek side Olympiacos, who are also owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The 23-year-old has shown signs of recovery on social media from his serious injury after posting several updates hinting that he was set for a return to action.

But now he will be playing his football in the Greek Super League. Reacting to the move on X, Biancone simply put

Head coach Steve Cooper admits it will take time for his new-look Nottingham Forest side to really find their feet after a late flurry of summer signings.

It was somewhat of a mixed bag for the Reds as they drew 1-1 with Burnley in their first game back after the international break. Having failed to make the most of some positive play in the first half, they were forced to come from behind after Zeki Amdouni opened the scoring for the visitors just before the interval.

A fabulous strike from debutant Callum Hudson-Odoi clinched a point for Forest. But fellow deadline day arrival Ibrahim Sangare didn’t make quite the same impact, and it was a tough evening for Gonzalo Montiel on his first league start in the Garibaldi.

The trio formed three of the four changes Cooper made to his XI as he switched to a 4-2-3-1 system. Evolving the team’s style of play and becoming flexible in formations is a key goal for the Welshman, but he knows a little patience will be required as players adapt.
