Liverpool are considering Romeo Lavia among their options to strengthen in midfield this summer.
The Southampton midfielder is set to be one of the hottest properties on the market over the course of the transfer window. The Saints’ relegation means Lavia is likely to move on, with a number of clubs interested.
And while Liverpool’s interest in Lavia is nothing brand new, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in a report for GiveMeSport that he is indeed a player the Reds are following.
Liverpool keeping close tabs on Romeo Lavia
Giving his opinion on matters to GMS, Romano confirmed that while there’s been no bid from Lavia just yet, he is being watched by the Reds.
“I’m not aware of any contact, but I’m told that Liverpool are following the player because he was one of the best talents in the Premier League,” Romano said.
Because of that, it’s normal to follow him. But, at the moment, there are not concrete negotiations with Southampton and they have not been approached.”
Indeed, Liverpool are thought to be considering ways of tempting Southampton into doing a deal.
Reports last week had suggested that Tyler Morton could be included in a swap proposal from the Reds.
RTK’s View: Not one to be ruled out just yet
While Romano says there’s no direct bid as such for Romeo Lavia, this is a player in-demand and Liverpool are right to be in the mix.
The Reds need to ensure the right midfielders are brought in and Lavia ticks a lot of boxes for Jurgen Klopp.
Regarded as an ‘incredible‘ young talent, Lavia was one of the few Southampton players to emerge from last season with any credit.
The likes of Chelsea, Man City, and more are all believe to admire the youngster. Still only 19, there is every reason to believe Lavia will go on to have a fine career at the top level.
