Despite reports emerging claiming that Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda was closing in on a move to Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona are still not out of the race for the 18-year-old Spanish defender.
Indeed, according to MARCA, Barcelona are still very much in the picture as far as Fresneda’s signing is considered. In fact, it is even claimed that the La Liga champions held a meeting with his representatives, led by Fali Ramadani earlier today.
Fresneda went on to make 24 appearances across all competitions for Real Valladolid this past season. However, he could not help them survive relegation from La Liga, following which his release clause now stands at €20 million heading into the summer.
A number of top clubs, including Barcelona, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Dortmund have taken an interest in him.
An exit in the summer is pretty much locked in for Fresneda and as per the report, Barça remain an option on the table especially after the club officials met with his representatives earlier today in Catalonia.
A new right-back is on the agenda at Barcelona given that they only have Sergi Roberto and the inexperienced Julian Araujo as options. Jules Kounde does not wish to continue playing out wide any longer and has communicated the same to manager Xavi Hernandez.
