Paul Mitchell appears to be a candidate to move to Rangers and follow Philippe Clement to Ibrox in the coming days, according to the Scottish Sun.
The daily newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday (10 October) that the former Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and RB Leipzig chief may also move to Glasgow as the club are eyeing a sporting director.
Since Ross Wilson’s departure to Nottingham Forest, the club have not brought in anyone to replace him.
Mitchell’s arrival would be a huge coup and if Clement, who’s worked with him at Monaco, can pull some strings, it will be incredible.
As the two have a working relationship and Gers are still a big draw being one of the most historic teams in the UK, he could help return them to the glory days.
He’s built the reputation of being a transfer guru and that is exactly what Rangers need given their struggles in the transfer market recently.
As this summer showed, there is money to be spent and with Mitchell calling the shots, one can be assured that there will be a long-term plan in place.
Rangers need to do everything they possibly can to convince the 42-year-old to move to Ibrox.
If Clement is the managerial option they go for, then the chances of hiring Mitchell increase that much more and hopefully, things change for the better.
