Concerns are starting to arise at Tottenham as Liverpool looms as a potential rival in the pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen defender and Burkina Faso international Edmond Tapsoba.
That is according to 90Min via liverpool.com. While Spurs appear close to securing the services of Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven who is also on Liverpool’s radar, they are also considering Tapsoba as a viable option.
However, Liverpool, along with Manchester United and Newcastle are also in the mix as potential destinations for the Leverkusen man. Liverpool’s search for a centre-back remains well-documented, but the specific target remains uncertain.
While Levi Colwill from Chelsea would be the ideal choice, the feasibility of such a transfer remains unknown. The Reds are looking for a player who not only possesses current ability but also has a higher ceiling for potential growth.
While Tapsoba is undoubtedly a talented player, Liverpool may be inclined to seek out a defender with even greater potential. The club has shown a keen eye for identifying players with exceptional upside in the past, and their approach to signing a centre-back is likely to reflect this philosophy.
The Reds are well aware of the importance of having depth and quality in their backline, especially after the injury struggles we’ve faced in recent seasons. Two of our four centre-backs are over the age of 31, and it would be wise of the club to future-proof the options in that department.

As the transfer window progresses, it will be intriguing to see how the pursuit of a centre-back unfolds for Liverpool.
The club’s decision-makers will undoubtedly consider all available options and assess each player’s potential contribution to the team’s success.
