Leeds United are planning talks with Wilfried Gnonto in a bid to resolve his long-term future, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Whites want to discuss the possibility of a new contract – even with the forward’s current deal not set to expire until June 202
Gnonto was the subject of much speculation during the summer transfer window following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League.
Top-flight Everton held the strongest interest in signing the youngster but couldn’t agree a deal with Daniel Farke’s side.
He trained alone at the start of the 2023-24 campaign after a high-profile fall-out with the club – but has since been reintroduced into the squad.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Italy international is now focused on the season ahead at Leeds – who are vying for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Gnonto was excluded from the matchday squad for games against West Brom and Birmingham but returned to the side with a goal for the 4-3 win over Ipswich on 26 August.
He has made four total appearances so far this season, with Leeds picking up six points from a possible 15.
The youngster featured in several attacking roles as he made 28 appearances in his first season in English football last term – scoring four goals and adding four assists.
