Breaking News: Liverpool are now more likely to sign ‘perfect’ midfielder than Nicolo Barella.

Liverpool are reportedly more likely to sign OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram than Inter Milan superstar Nicolo Barella this summer.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the 22-year-old French talent is a genuine target for the Reds as Liverpool look to sign their second midfielder of the summer after the arrival of Brighton & Hove Albion sensation Alexis Mac Allister.

Thuram, who was recently lauded as a midfielder with a ‘perfect’ profile, is one of the most in-demand players in Europe this window having established himself at Nice as one of the best talents in France. And Liverpool now look primed to make a move for the youngster.

Whilst some supporters would prefer Barella given his abilities and age, Thuram could still be an exciting move for Liverpool. And according to Jacobs, interest is real from the Anfield side. The journalist said: “I still think Khephren Thuram is the one to watch now in terms of Liverpool.

Jacobs added: “It seems like there is less now in terms of Kone, who is another player who Liverpool have looked at. There are reports Nice wants to keep the player but the feeling is that Nice are going to have to sell some of their assets, so there is an opportunity there for Liverpool.”

Thuram could be a better signing than Barella for Liverpool.

Barella is without question one of the best midfielders in the world and a player who could provide infinite value to Liverpool this summer. However, given his price-tag, the Reds have to play the smart game in the window, and as a result, Thuram could be the better signing.

Four years younger and potentially more versatile, the Frenchman has a lot going for him that makes him as exciting a signing for Liverpool as Barella. And with a deal more realistic this summer, the Reds should be putting all their energy into signing the Nice star rather than the Italian international.
