The English side are looking for a generational change after the possible departure of Kyle Walker to Bayern Munich
Guardiola wants to perfect the machine. After winning a historic treble with Manchester City (Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League), the Catalan coach wants to build a monstrous team that will get him as close as possible to repeating, or even bettering, the feat next season.
To that end, Pep has already set his sights on a player who would improve the squad in a superlative way: PSG’s Achraf Hakimi.
With the futures of llkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker in doubt, the English side have moved to try and catch a fish in the troubled waters of PSG, who are focusing all their efforts on retaining Kylian Mbappe.
The Citizens, who are well on their way to signing Mateo Kovacic and hope to do the same with compatriot Josko Gvardiol, have been forced to look to the market for a replacement for Walker.
The English full-back, who has one year left on his contract with City, is about to pack his bags to look for a new adventure at Bayern. The strength of the German side and Pep Guardiola’s predisposition to sign a generational replacement… would have opened the doors of the Etihad Stadium to the English full-back to set off.
Hakimi has a contract with the Parisian club until June 30, 2026, but would fill a need in the squad of the European champions. The ‘forced’ departure of Joao Cancelo, who failed to establish himself at Bayern during his loan spell, would be another compelling reason for City to try to sign the Moroccan full-back.
Achraf’s contract makes it very difficult for him to leave the French capital, though. But City’s last year full of success is a very difficult thing to turn down becoming part of. The English side, who have knocked on the door of the PSG full-back, are once again trying to acquire the services of a player they tried to sign when he was making a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund
