The Premier League’s transfer window has closed but Liverpool’s business is still ongoing – with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad trying to sign Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have enjoyed an excellent start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up 10 points from their first four games.

After being held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea on the opening day of the season, they’ve beaten Bournemouth 3-1, Newcastle 2-1 and Aston Villa 3-0. That is an impressive start, as many critics thought they would struggle against Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s side are enjoying plenty of success on the pitch, there’s a bit of talk off it. Mohamed Salah is wanted by Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad, while Jordan Henderson has launched a stinging attack on his former employers.

Here are the latest headlines from Merseyside…

Salah’s Saudi transfer

Al-Ittihad are expected to launch a new £215million offer for Salah before the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window closes on Thursday. Such a bid would be extremely difficult for Liverpool to turn down, although Klopp wants to the Egyptian, 31, to stay.

“I never had any doubt about his commitment to this club,” said Klopp after Liverpool’s win against Villa. “You can’t imagine how much fuss the world has made but how calm we are with it. He is our player and wants to play here.”

Al-Ittihad are willing to make Salah the best-paid footballer on the planet, such is their desire to sign him. Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has admitted there is “no concern” among the squad about losing their talisman over the next couple of days.

Henderson not wanted

Jordan Henderson has broken his silence on his move to Saudi Arabia

What do you make of Jordan Henderson’s interview? Let us know in the comments below!

Jordan Henderson claims he joined Al-Ettifaq during the summer transfer window because he wasn’t wanted by the Reds. The England international, 33, was widely criticised for completing a move to Saudi Arabia due to homosexuality being illegal in the country.

Henderson was vocal supporter of the LGBT+ community during his time at Liverpool, but that didn’t stop him from moving to Saudi Arabia when the offer came calling. The midfielder claims the transfer was for footballing reasons rather than financial.

Henderson said: “If one of those people said to me, ‘Now we want you to stay’, then we wouldn’t be having this conversation… That’s not to say that they forced me out of the club… but at no point did I feel wanted by the club or anyone to stay.”

Henderson slammed by fans

Henderson has also said sorry to the LGBT+ community for his transfer, but the apology hasn’t been accepted by Liverpool fan group Kop Outs! They’ve also revealed the midfielder has made no effort to communicate with the group since his move.

“No acceptance by Henderson of his role in sportswashing, trying to disguise the disgusting Saudi human rights record,” tweeted Kop Outs! “This sounds more like an attempt to rebuild his ‘brand’, sorry isn’t good enough… Actions speak louder than words.”
