The head of a Championship club to join Leeds United even if it is a “clear appointment.”
Journalist Beren Cross of Leeds Live claims that Stuart Webber, the sports director of Norwich City, to take over as Leeds United’s head of recruitment.
According to the Elland Road club’s current job posting, there is a Head of Recruitment position.
Leeds United fan and Championship-winning sporting director Stuart Webber seems unlikely to reunite with Daniel Farke as his head of recruitment,” Cross wrote for Leeds Live (1
“The Norwich City chief is closing in on the end of his tenure at Carrow Road while the Whites are advertising a vacancy to head up transfer business in West Yorkshire. However, while the links between Webber and United are undeniable, the 39-year-old appears keen to remain out of work until at least May 2024.
“Webber’s affinity for United, past success with Farke and current vacancy at LS11 had led many to join the dots on an obvious appointment, but the theory has never gained any traction in reality.
Leeds clearly need someone to help guide their transfer strategy, but it seems that person will not be Webber, at least for the time being.
The Norwich man has other plans for the near future, meaning the Whites will likely turn elsewhere when it comes to making their decision.
It is, of course, a highly stressful job, and one that brings plenty of hard work and tough decisions, particularly at a club like Leeds.
The Elland Road faithful have not been over the moon at some of the transfer decisions in recent times, especially when it comes to players leaving the club.
That area, among many others, will come under scrutiny in the upcoming transfer windows, with Leeds having lost so many senior men on loan deals following the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season.
