Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa is unlikely to return to former club Palmeiras when the January transfer window opens, according to reports in Brazil.
It was suggested earlier this week that Palmeiras and fellow Brazilian club Flamengo were showing an interest in a potential move for the player in the winter window, despite him signing a season-long loan deal with Olympiacos in the summer.
Scarpa joined Forest on a free transfer from Palmeiras back in January, but a combination of injury and personal reasons saw him make just six Premier League appearances for Forest before the end of the season. Since arriving in Greece, Scarpa has made five appearances in all competitions, most recently he came on as a second half substitute in the 1-1 Super League draw against AEK Athens last weekend, but was an unused substitute for Thursday night’s Europa League clash vs Freiburg.
Amid the links with a move back to Brazil, it has now been claimed that it is not likely. UOL journalist Flavio Latif, as translated by Sport Witness reports that Palmeiras have no intention of signing the player at this moment in time.
