With a whole host of signings expected at Anfield this summer, it is likely that the coming months will be massively important for the Reds’ young players as they look to stake their respective claims for game-time ahead of next season.

One major beneficiary of this could be Scottish prospect Ben Doak, who impressed during a series of cameo appearances for the first team last season, as well as for the club’s various youth sides.
The 17-year-old made the move to Merseyside last summer from Celtic, arriving with a burgeoning reputation, and showed a lot of promise across the age groups — contributing 19 goal involvements in 32 games during 2022/23.
The highlights of his campaign surely were his substitute appearances for the first team, where he caught the eye with a couple of brief forays into the action with his dribbling ability and uncompromising efforts against the likes of Aston Villa in the Premier League, as well as Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the cups.
It seems as though his performances have not gone unnoticed on the international scene either, with former Liverpool coach and now Scotland manager Steve Clarke having spoken of his admiration for the emerging talent.
He told football.scotland: “He’s an attacker and probably a really difficult player to play against because he just runs. He’s so quick and he can go either way.”
Interestingly, Kenny Dalglish’s former Reds assistant also offered some insight into what Doak’s future role at club and international level could be as his game continues to develop in the coming years.
