Wolves transfer news as Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia is told he will not be moving clubs in the January window
Wolves launched a late attempt to sign the striker on deadline day but saw the bid rejected by his club Salernitana. Dia was left out of the next Serie A game against Lecce, before missing the following two games due to injury.
He has since returned to the team for the last three league games but is yet to find the net since Wolves’ interest emerged. Dia has scored once this season, scoring in the 1-1 draw with Udinese in August.

“As for Dia, I wish to send a message, which is that we demand respect for Salernitana, for myself, for the history of the club and its fans. We received a phone call late on Thursday night with talk of a loan with option to buy for figures that, if I were to make public, would cause a diplomatic incident. None of their directors contacted me personally, this affected Dia.
“I expect the player to realise how much we have given him, because we want a rapport of reciprocal respect and hope we can continue like the previous 12 months together. I will say that I, the president and all of Salernitana will not forget what Wolverhampton did.”
The Italian club’s president Danilo Iervolino has now sent a clear message to Wolves over Dia’s availability in the January transfer window. “The case is closed, it’s over,” he said on Wolves’ bid for the player in January, via Fabrizio Romano. The president then added: “Dia will stay at Salernitana.”
