The Toffees have been linked with a move for the Italian winger as he could become the next player to leave Elland Road

Willy Gnonto’s proposed move from Leeds United to Everton is drawing ever closer, according to reports in Italy. The winger could be the next player to leave Elland Road following relegation to the Championship, with Sean Dyche keen to add the Italian international to his Toffees squad.

Sky Italia report this morning that Everton are close to finalising a deal for Gnonto, thought to be in the region of £20m, with the move potentially going through next week. The Goodison Park club have already signed Ashley Young from Aston Villa on a free transfer and are thought to be keen on bringing former Leicester City defender Jonny Evans to the club.

If Gnonto does leave Elland Road, he will become seventh player to move on since relegation following exits for Rasmus Kristensen, Rodrigo, Marc Roca, Tyler Roberts, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Brenden Aaronson.

Tyler Adams is also expected to move on this summer, while there has been increased speculation over the future of striker Patrick Bamford. Leeds have yet to make a first-team signing this transfer window, but with new manager Daniel Farke only in the job for a couple of weeks, signings are expected before the Championship campaign gets under way.

Gnonto played 28 times for Leeds after arriving from FC Zurich in a deadline day move last summer, scoring four times and contributing a further four assists. He has continued to be involved at international level for Italy and there was talk about him making a Serie A move this summer.

However, it appears as though he will continue in the Premier League with Everton – ironically the club which stayed up at Leeds’ expense on the final day of last season.
