However, perhaps one of the biggest narratives is how Asterisk Talley has taken the women’s golf world by storm by outperforming her more experienced peers. While Korda, Thompson, and Rose Zhang are watching the conclusion of the tournament elsewhere, Talley is making history.
Aside from her youth, what makes Talley stand out is her first name: Asterisk. The young star’s mother is Greek and when Talley was born, her parents decided to name her “Asterisk,” which means “little star” in Greek.
As a tribute to her name, Talley marks the dot in her first name with an asterisk, according to Golf Monthly. Still, she admits that having a unique name does have its ups and downs.
“Some people are like, wow, really cool name,” Talley explained to Yahoo Sports. “and then some people are like, what the hell is that, and it’s like, sorry, I didn’t choose it. You just live with it.”

Then if I achieved that, I wanted to get low amateur. But I feel like that’s still achievable even after today’s round.
“I feel like I’m really calm on the golf course. People always tell me that, too. I don’t really get hyped on the golf course. I feel like when I make a birdie, I’m like, ‘Well, whatever,’ and if I make a bogey, it’s like, ‘Well, I’ll birdie the next hole.”
