Real Madrid have added four fresh faces to their squad this summer. Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia and Arda Guler have been signed on a permanent basis while Joselu has been brought in on a season-long loan deal from Espanyol. Their transfer window might not be over yet though, as a Kylian Mbappe-shaped cloud remains over Santiago Bernabeu at all times.
Mbappe could be on his way out of PSG this summer. The French club appear to be keen on parting ways with him, as they do not want to see him leave as a free agent a year later when his contract runs out at the end of next season.
Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have been placed as the favourites to sign Mbappe, if he was to leave PSG this summer. They are not the only club being linked with the French World Cup winner.
Liverpool and Chelsea are two clubs who have been linked with Mbappe as well. But it looks like the Reds might not be in the race after all.
Jurgen Klopp hands €250 million transfer boost to Real Madrid
As reported by GOAL, Klopp said while discussing a potential move for Mbappe:
“We laugh about it. I can say that I think he’s a really good player, but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.
“But it’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”
There had been suggestions that Liverpool could be open to the idea of signing Mbappe on loan for the season. But judging from Klopp’s comments, it does not feel like the Reds are working on a deal for the Frenchman at this point in time.
Chelsea are another club who have been linked with Mbappe. But with no European football on offer at Stamford Bridge this season, it would be a surprise if the French superstar ended up there.
That leaves Real Madrid as the firm favourites to sign Mbappe and at this point, a move to Santiago Bernabeu is starting to feel inevitable. Whether that happens this summer or the next one remains
