Arsenal continue to lead the way in the summer transfer window with deals for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber reportedly close to completion. A late stumble by the Gunners last season saw them pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City – with Mikel Arteta keen to ensure that a much stronger squad will not repeat those same mistakes next term
A combined £200m outlay has seen Arsenal land Rice, Timber and the former Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz. Their business appears to have raised the game of their Premier League rivals, who want to keep pace with the North Londoners and City
Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all keen to ensure that they do not slip away from the pace-setters this season. The trio have been among the busiest clubs this summer.
United ended a lengthy transfer saga to finally compete their £60m signing of Mason Mount and are expected to add strength to their forward and goalkeeping positions. Chelsea have added firepower with the additions of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, while Liverpool are refreshing Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
Bayern Munich launch fresh Kane bid
Tottenham ace Harry Kane has reportedly been the subject of a fresh bid from Bayern Munich as the German giants attempt to prise him away from north London for under £70million this summer. Kane has just one year remaining on his current deal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a move to Munich appearing to be his most realistic hope of a transfer if he wants to quit Spurs this summer.
Bayern reportedly put forward a £56m bid for Kane at the end of last month. And, according to the Daily Mail, the Bundesliga champions have come back in with a new offer that might reach £68m. Bayern view a centre forward signing as a must this summer, with Kane now regarded by manager Thomas Tuchel as his team’s No 1 target. And the German boss wants the transfer settled quickly
Arsenal learn price for Laporte
Arsenal could be about to get one over on Manchester City again in the transfer market as Mikel Arteta lines up another raid on his former club with a potential move for Aymeric Laporte. Reports suggest the treble winners have named their asking price for Laporte as Pep Guardiola prepares to sell the centre-back this summer, and the Gunners could swoop to sign a third player from City over the space of 11 months.
According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, City want at least £25.5m for Laporte and will use the funds to target Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig, with the German outfit recently admitting the Croatian is keen to join Guardiola’s men.
Man City could rue transfer mistake
Manchester City could rue a huge transfer mistake by letting goalkeeper James Trafford sign for Burnley. The 20-year-old is set to move clubs after the Clarets agreed a £19million deal to land him.
Trafford was in outstanding form for England during the European Under-21 Championship and saved a late penalty in the final against Spain on Saturday to ensure the Young Lions lifted the trophy courtesy of a 1-0 win.
Current City keeper Ederson is one of the best in the business, but there is every chance Trafford could go on to enjoy a remarkable career at the top of the game
PSG sign Lee Kang
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Lee Kang-In from Mallorca. The 22-year-old has become the French club’s first ever South Korean signing.
