Nottingham Forest will look to loan out Brandon Aguilera this summer. The Costa Rica international has been training with Steve Cooper’s squad and has looked bright in friendly games.
A report by The Telegraph believes that the youngster still doesn’t remain in the head coach’s plans for the forthcoming season. Despite a lack of creativity in the final third, Cooper is hoping to sign a couple of options instead.
Forest signed Aguilera 12 months ago from LD Alajuelense. He headed back to Costa Rica immediately to sign for Guanacasteca but was recalled in January and sent to Estoril in Portugal.
His second period on loan wasn’t particularly successful. He failed to make an appearance for the club’s senior ranks and instead spent his time playing football for the under-23 outfit.
That wasn’t ideal and Forest must get him playing some sort of competitive action this season. Some fans would perhaps prefer him to stay in England and in fairness, there is an argument for that
The Reds will play against three EFL outfits in the Papa John’s Trophy this season. That will represent a good chance for some players to be tested against men and Aguilera might thrive.
Still, it perhaps doesn’t make sense to keep a player just for the sake of three games against senior opposition. It would, however, help Aguilera get acclimatised to English football a little quicker.
Aguilera played against Notts County in pre-season. He was also taken to Spain with Cooper’s squad and made appearances against Valencia and Levante during pre-season. The youngster also played for a short while against Leeds.
Forest will loan out Aguilera once again
Now, he’s set to go out on loan once again. The hold-up appears to be due to the Reds trying to ensure that he’s hooked up with the best loan possible ahead of the new season.
The youngster looks very sharp indeed. Unlike some of the other South American imports Forest have had in the past, he does look like a player that could play first-team action for the club.
Moussa Niakhate has been impressed with him during pre-season. He called him a ‘baller’ after the two players were on the same side during an in-house practice match over in Spain
At 20-years-old, the man with eight Costa Rica caps simply needs to play. If it’s by going out on loan, the Reds must try and get him something hooked up in this country.
There is an argument, however, that says it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if he stayed at the City Ground and honed his trade with the club’s under-21s for six months.
