Caitlin Clark officially committed to play for the USA team in the 2024 Olympics.

Former WNBA star and ESPN basketball commentator Rebecca Lobo noted during an appearance on “Get Up” that an injury to Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray could pave the way for Clark to join the team.

It would make sense to keep Clark off Team USA’s bench if Gray is not healthy, but Lobo added that the Aces guard is expected to be ready by the 2024 Olympics. Atlanta Fever guard Alisha Gray, Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbouyere and Washington Mystics guard Ariel Atkins offer more experienced options to replace rookie Clark on Team USA if Gray can’t leave the team.

As Lobo points out, the most likely scenario is that Gray will join the U.S. team while playing in Paris, as Clark has more experience.

However, there is a storyline where Clarke is still on the roster due to Grey’s health, so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop.
