John Eustace will not be appointed as the new Rangers manager on Monday (9 October), according to Chris Jack.
The Herald journalist made the admission in a tweet on Sunday (8 October) after Wayne Rooney has been linked with replacing the 43-year-old as the Birmingham City boss, potentially creating a domino effect involving the Light Blues.
It comes as Jack reported on the Rangers Review website on Sunday that Gers chiefs James Bisgrove and John Bennett are set to conduct final interviews with prospective candidates in London as they look to appoint a successor to Michael Beale.
It would probably be a fairly unpopular decision if the Rangers hierarchy were to make a move to appoint Eustace as the new manager.
That is because he admitted in September that he was “not interested” in taking over at Ibrox and it seems like a similar appointment to Beale.
Just like the former Gers boss did with QPR, Eustace has had a strong start to the season with Birmingham as they sit sixth in the English Championship table.

But the club have already been down that road before and it feels like it could potentially be a mistake to appoint another manager with not too much experience behind them.
It’s so far unclear who the leading candidates are that are set for final interviews, but you would imagine an appointment will be made in the next few days.
