The fact that C.J. Stroud, the quarterback for the Houston Texans, participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game during All-Star Weekend earlier this month shows how passionate he is about hoops and basketball.
NBA podcaster Sloan Weinstein approached Stroud during his Indianapolis engagement and asked him to name his all-time starting five.
LeBron James and Michael Jordan were not included in the group that the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year presented.
“I’ll go Steph [Curry] at one, Kobe [Bryant] at two, KD [Kevin Durant] at three, Dirk [Nowitzki] at four and Shaq at five,” Stroud said to Weinstein.
It’s crazy to see neither Michael Jackson nor King James in the mix, even though that’s a strong team. Still, it’s safe to assume that Stroud is a Kobe fan.
Stroud was all the Texans could have asked for and more on the football field as the No. 2 overall pick.
With 63.9% of his throws completed for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions, the former Ohio State standout had the lowest interception rate in the NFL.
After Houston completed 10-7 and advanced to the first round of the playoffs as well as the AFC South, Stroud stated that he still expects more.
After the team’s season-ending defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, he remarked, “I have that mentality because where I come from in college, if you don’t win it all it’s a fail.”
Fans of the Texans have every reason to think that more will happen.
