Deal Approed : Leicester City defender is set to complete a permanent move to Premier League side in the next hour….

The 27-year-old has been a key player for the Foxes since his arrival from Italian side Atalanta in September 2020, winning the FA Cup and the community shield under Brendan Rodgers, but is yet to make an appearance for the club this season.

Who is Timothy Castagne?

The Belgium full-back began his career by rising through the youth setup with Genk, making just under 100 appearances before completing a £4 million switch to Genk, making an additional 96 appearances. He’s earned over 30 caps for Belgium as well as making over 100 appearances for the Foxes.

Castagne was named on the bench for the Championship clashes against Coventry and Rotherham as well as the EFL Cup win over Burton Albion, but failed to play a single minute, sparking speculation of a potential exit.

Perfect Foxes start

Leicester City sit top of the Championship table after the opening four games of the season. Following a late winner against Coventry City, the Foxes have picked up more comfortable wins against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City as well as a win on Saturday against Rotherham United.

The Foxes are two points ahead of both Norwich City and Birmingham City in the second tier and remain the only side in the EFL that has a 100% record.

Writer’s View

News of Castagne’s incoming departure will bring the end of an era for the Belgium, who has been a very successful addition for the Championship side. However, he hasn’t featured once this season and despite his qualities, he won’t be considered as a major loss for the club.

It will be a sad sight for many Leicester supporters but you cannot blame Castagne for wanting to remain in the Premier League and he will likely become an important figure for Marco Silva’s Fulham side in the top flight.
