Daniel Farke wants to sign the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder and the Bundesliga side are fully prepared to do business.
Leeds are willing to pay a fee for Amiri that Leverkusen would be happy with and they have made progress in their pursuit, according to German magazine Kicker.
However, Leeds have a problem as Amiri is not convinced about the prospect of leaving a top tier league in the Bundesliga to drop down to the Championship.
He is struggling to see his future in the English second tier.
Leverkusen would like to ship him out though and it is unclear how the Bundesliga side will react if Amiri comes out firmly against the move.
Selling Amiri would give Leverkusen extra financial firepower in their pursuit of Southampton’s Nathan Tella.
Southampton are demanding more than €20m for Tella, while Leverkusen have so far offered €18m.
