DEAL APPROVED: Salernitana move quickly come to an agreement to sign Alan Browne of Preston North End.

Gianluca di Marzio claims that the Serie A team is negotiating to sign the Ireland international before Thursday’s deadline.

Before the winter market completely closes, clubs have until 11 p.m. to finalize any outstanding deals.

Browne has started 24 of Preston’s Championship games this season, making him a valuable member of Ryan Lowe’s first team.

But, the midfielder’s deal is set to expire in the summer, so this might be the team’s last opportunity to acquire the 28-year-old.

Salernitana is showing interest in Browne as they try to strengthen their midfield options for the upcoming season.

Presently occupying the bottom spot in the Serie A standings, the Italian team is attempting to stave off relegation to the second division.

With six points separating them from safety, the addition of someone like Browne might significantly affect their chances of surviving.

Preston will need to decide whether to risk losing the club captain for nothing in the summer or whether to take advantage of this transfer interest now that he is nearing the end of his contract.

Preston’s significance with Alan Browne
The Irishman, who came up through the ranks at Cork City before signing with Preston in 2014, has spent his whole senior career at Deepdale.

Over the past ten years, he has made over 350 appearances for the team, solidifying his position as a team member during their 2014–15 Championship run.
