DEAL CLOSE: After agreeing to a new deal with Leeds United in August, the twenty-one-year-old eventually made his way out of Elland Road.

It seems like an almost foreign concept to think about Leeds having strong squad depth for a full Championship season, after so many injuries have previously thwarted any progress in the league.

Coming down from the Premier League with more quality than most has been a big help for Leeds, seeing some youngsters return from fruitful loans looking to do their bit, just like Charlie Cresswell.

Centre-back Charlie Cresswell comes into this week surely buoyed by two full 90-minute outings for England under-21s, having scored in the second against Ukraine – his first at that level for his country.

It comes after likely being frustrated by the lack of action in the Leeds senior side, with Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, and Liam Cooper sharing the two slots between them at the moment.

He signed a new contract in August that would have kept him at Elland Road until 2027, but since then, his playing time has not increased, so it may be necessary to inquire about his future in January.

Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Evening Post, who discussed the defender’s difficulties returning to the starting lineup at Elland Road, said as much:
