As Leicester City reached an agreement with Trai Hume, Sunderland made the decision to make a deal with them.

The publication reported on its website on Sunday (3 December) that the Black Cats “will be tempted” into selling the pladded that Premier League club Burnley and Championship leaders Leicester City are interested in the full-back.

sources have told us that Premier League side Burnley, along with Championship promotion contenders Leicester and Leeds, are looking closely at Hume.

“Hume only signed a new long-term contract in the summer, now due to last until 2027 with the option of an extra year, but Sunderland will be tempted into a sale given the profit they can make on him.

Hume has enjoyed quite a rise in a short period of time, with the defender only arriving in English football in 2022 from Northern Irish club Linfield.

The 21-year-old, who has played at both right-back and left-back this season, already has 56 Sunderland appearances to his name. A total of 19 of those have come this season, with the Championship regular netting one goal in that time.

Sunderland will undoubtedly be keen to keep hold of the young defender, but given how they signed him for less than £200,000 [ December], they may just be thinking of the huge profit that they could make by selling him.

But that may not favour Leeds, with Premier League club Burnley perhaps able to outmanoeuvre the Whites in terms of finances due to their top flight status.

That could, of course, change as early as next season, with Daniel Farke’s side looking likely of clinching a play-off spot this time around
