Tottenham may end up spending a British transfer record if they want to replace Harry Kane with Evan Ferguson. According to reports, Brighton believe that the Irish forward is the next major talent off their conveyor belt – and expect to command a bigger fee than they did from Chelsea for Moises Caicedo.
Spurs are searching for a long-term replacement for Kane, who has left for Bayern Munich a £100million deal. But they could face having to pay a fee that blows Chelsea’s huge spending out of the water.

Spurs are searching for a long-term replacement for Kane, who has left for Bayern Munich in a £100million deal. But they could face having to pay a fee that blows Chelsea’s huge spending out of the water.
The Blues have twice broken the British transfer record this year. In January, they paid £105m to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica and spent £110m more on Moises Caicedo earlier this week.
Chelsea’s lavish outlay is set to raise the bar for spending among Premier League clubs. Teams lower down the table now know the Big Six have the money to lay down nine-figure sums on players.
According to Sky Sports, Brighton intend to receive even more money than they received for Caicedo by selling Ferguson in the years to come. The 18-year-old forward has enjoyed a Kane-like seamless transition into top-flight football over the last 18 months.
Ferguson’s minutes have been managed carefully by Brighton, with the teenager making only 21 Premier League appearances over the last few years. But he has scored seven goals in that time, including one during the Seagulls’ 4-1 opening day win over Luton.
