Piotr Kasprzak, a scout for Rangers, has stated that Adballah Sima was being considered by the team for years before his summer switch to Ibrox on loan.
The scout stated that if they had not known about his skill from their earlier game scouting after he made an impression in a Europa League match for Slavia Prague, the transaction would not have been in the works.
Rangers reportedly couldn’t afford to pay the Czech team at the time, but their previous efforts paid off when he moved to Brighton and a loan deal became possible.
Speaking via the Liverpool Echo on November 7, Kasprzak shared, “We remembered him from the times of Slavia Prague. He played for a satellite club, joined Slavia, and became a sensation.
“
He even managed to score a goal in the European Cup against us. Although we thought highly of him, we were unable to afford to spend that much money on him at the time. After playing for Brighton, he was loaned to France, returned, and is currently playing for Rangers.
We probably wouldn’t have gone for him in the summer because his name wouldn’t mean much to us if it weren’t for the fact that we had him in our database from the Slavia era and he was stuck in our memory. He is currently among our best players.
The Gers scout has given us some fascinating information regarding the Ibrox scouting network and their player-tracking process.
This has proved beneficial for Rangers as the star man has already proved his worth this season, coming in as one of the only impressive summer signings for Michael Beale before further excelling under the management of Philippe Clement so far.
A perspective on the value of historical scouting and keeping players in mind who have made an impression in the past is offered by the claim that the Glasgow club might not have pursued this deal if it weren’t for their prior scouting efforts.
After Sima moved to Brighton, they undoubtedly thought there was no chance of his returning to the blue side of Glasgow, but two years later, according to Kasprzak, he’s emerged as one of the best players at Ibrox.
