Moussa Diaby sums up Aston Villa transfer in one word
New signing Moussa Diaby says he is “proud” to join Aston Villa after becoming the club’s third summer signing.
The 24-year-old signed a five-year deal and follows Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres through the door. Villa beat off competition from Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr who also pushed hard and offered a far more lucrative contract to land Diaby.
Boss Unai Emery was previously close to coaching the Frenchman at Paris Saint-Germain as he looked to break into the senior side. Although Emery left PSG after two seasons, he admits keeping a close eye on Diaby.
“For us, Moussa Diaby is a player that we were following and he is helping us try to improve our level playing in the attacking third,” Emery said. “Sometimes he plays right, sometimes he plays as a number 10, sometimes as a left winger
We are very excited and we are very happy with him and really, we need to build our structure again and Moussa is giving us another step. He is a winger or striker and his best power is his capacity to attack, dribble and run in behind, and he has experience in Europe. He is young, I think the qualities he is going to give us and playing in different positions is going to give us more power.”
Diaby meanwhile, took to Twitter following the announcement and wrote: “Very proud to start a new chapter and join Aston Villa. DONE DEAL: An excellent player sums up Aston Villa transfer in one wordUp the Villa!”
One fan said: “Glad to have you with us, Moussa,” before a second added: “We love you already!”
A third continued: “Actually so happy you’ve joined, can’t wait to see you rip the Premier League new one.” Another reiterated: “I can’t believe we’ve pulled this off! Absolute baller! Emery is cooking! Welcome to Villa Diaby!”
A fifth concluded: “Unai Emery knows what he wants and gets it. I can’t wait to see where he takes the Villa.
