Barnsley has confirmed the signing of forward Max Watters on a three-year deal, with an optional extra year.
The 24-year-old returns to Oakwell following a successful loan spell with the Reds last season.
Barnsley CEO, Khaled El-Ahmad, expressed satisfaction at Watters’ return.
El-Ahmad said, “We are happy to be able to welcome Max back to Oakwell following his loan spell last season. We look forward to seeing him work with Neill and the coaching staff over a longer period and help us achieve our goals next campaign.”
Watters, who is eager to get back into a Reds shirt, reflected positively on his previous time with the club.
He said, “I had a few months here last season and I really enjoyed it. I really like what I saw and I’m really happy to be back.”
The striker was part of the squad that achieved a Play-Off Final at Wembley last season.
Although the match didn’t go their way, Watters used the experience as a motivation for the future, stating, “it just shows how much motivation and ambition this club has got.”
