Liverpool; man-united and Arsenal have been splashing the cash so far this summer and more is expected to be spent
These are the latest transfer rumours from the Premier League and around the world on Tuesday, August 8.
United eye Adams
Manchester United are being linked with a shock move for Leeds United’s Tyler Adams.
There is intense competition for the American’s signature from other top-flight clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, report 90mins.
The 24-year-old only arrived at Elland Road last summer from RB Leipzig. However, Leeds suffered relegation last season and will now likely have to cash in on the midfielder.
Reports state he has a release clause in his contract worth in the region of £25million. The 36-cap international would represent shrewd business for Erik ten Hag. Chelsea are also monitoring the situation closely and are said to have made “contact” over the American.
Scott McTominay is on the brink of leaving Old Trafford for West Ham, while the Red Devils are still working on a deal for Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat.
Lavia left out of squad
Romeo Lavia has been left out of Southampton’s squad for the Saints’ Carabao Cup clash with Gillingham tonight.
Liverpool have had three bids for the teenager rejected, with the offers all short of the St Mary’s club’s £50million asking price.
There is, however, a growing belief that this is a move that eventually gets done. Indeed, Lavia’s camp want a deal done as soon as today.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has been following negotiations closely, wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “Roméo #Lavia not included today on the Cup game with #SaintsFC and was not at the training camp this morning. Player’s side looking for closing the deal today between #LiverpoolFC & #SouthamptonFC. More to follow.”
Lavia was an unused sub in the Saints’ opening-day win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Chelsea to get cut of £30m Newcastle deal
Tino Livramento has joined Newcastle United from Southampton in a £30million deal – with Chelsea set to take a massive cut.
Livramento has penned a five-year deal at St James’ Park having watched their friendly against Fiorentina at the weekend.
The 20-year-old will now compete with Kieran Trippier for a first XI spot for the season ahead.
He becomes Eddie Howe’s third signing of the summer after Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes agreed terms in the north east.
Livramento did not appear for Chelsea’s first team but they inserted a buy-back and sell-on clause in his contract, meaning they are due around 40% of the fee, according to reports. That could be somewhere in the region of £13million.
On signing, Livramento said: “I’m really excited to have signed for Newcastle United and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans.
“I was here for the games over the weekend; even though they were friendlies, there were so many fans and they were still so loud so I can’t wait to see what it feels like to play in front of them in a Premier League or Champions League game.
“The way the manager plays football is really attractive and I feel like it suits me as a player. And with how well the team did last season, the trajectory that we’re on now, I’m just looking forward to being a part of that.
“And to be able to learn from Kieran Trippier is another big thing for me; hopefully he teaches me how to become a better player and a better full-back.”
Neville a fan of Arsenal target
Gary Neville says Arsenal going for Brentford keeper David Raya is a statement move and says current number one Aaron Ramsdale struggled towards the backend of last season.
Arsenal were leading the Premier League for the majority of the campaign but fell off at the vital moment, and Neville believes Ramsdale was partly culpable in that.
