Done deal medica’s set: Tottenham finally agreed deal to sign £100m chelsea striker to replace Harry Kane..

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened talks with Chelsea over a shock move for Romelu Lukaku.

That’s according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who has shared an update on Lukaku’s future on his website.

Tottenham said goodbye to arguably their best player of the modern era on Saturday as Harry Kane completed a switch to Bayern Munich.

It’s left Spurs searching for a new forward player, with the likes of Gent’s Gift Orban and Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson said to be of interest.

But Tottenham have been linked with a surprise move for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, with Football Transfers claiming earlier this month the Belgian striker has emerged as a target for Ange Postecoglou.

Now, Pedulla claims that Spurs have made their move to sign Lukaku as they search for Kane’s replacement.

Tottenham move for Lukaku

Alfredo Pedulla reports that Lukaku will be forced to make a ‘quick decision’ over his future as talks between Chelsea and Juventus have stalled.

The journalist notes that Tottenham have made contact with Chelsea over Lukaku in the ‘last few hours’.

Lukaku has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge just two years after making the £100 million switch to West London from Inter Milan.

The 30-year-old spent the last campaign on loan at Inter and was expected to return to Milan, only for the Nerazzurri to pull out of a deal.

Whether Tottenham are interested in signing Lukaku remains to be seen, with differing reports surfacing over the weekend.

Indeed, The Sun’s Tom Barclay claims the Chelsea star isn’t currently of interest to Postecoglou’s men.

The Spurs News View

It would certainly come as a huge surprise if Tottenham moved for Lukaku this summer.

The Belgian has proven to be a reliable goalscorer over the years but doesn’t seem like the type of striker that would fit into Postecoglou’s system.

Spurs and Chelsea have also rarely done business over the years and it’s difficult to see that changing anytime soon.
