Done Deal: Rangers finally Complete manager Deal For Replacement before announcement…

Rangers supporters may not have a great deal to be cheerful about at the moment, but the future appears to be a little brighter as young pair Zak Lovelace and Archie Stevens have been called up by England Under-18s.

The teenage duo are part of Ryan Garry’s squad for the upcoming games with Belgium, Morocco and Korea Republic, as confirmed on Twitter on Friday (6 October).

That is some achievement in its own right, given the infrastructure at some English Football League clubs, and suggests the pair are fast on their way to the top.

Indeed, Lovelace has already featured a couple of times for the Gers’ senior side in the Scottish Premiership, despite being aged just 17 – one of those outings coming against Celtic.

Stevens, also aged 17, has yet to make his senior bow since joining from Wimbledon in June 2022, but that may soon be about to change.

Whoever it is that succeeds Michael Beale in the Ibrox dugout, they will want to quickly put their own spin on the side while at the same time picking up some victories – easier said than done, of course.

That could mean some of the younger players, Lovelace and Stevens among them, being given a chance to stake a claim for a squad place as the incoming manager freshens things up.

Many will argue that the pair cannot be any worse than what Rangers currently have available to them, having lost back-to-back matches while the search for a new head coach goes on.

For while the present is very bleak for the Light Blues, those coming through the ranks provide some hope for a brighter future.
