Scottish giants Celtic are braced for a big bid for their star man Matt O’Riley in January after reports broke that Brentford were considering testing the Glasgow side’s resolve this winter.
The classy midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road in the past, and it has even been suggested that the Whites had a bid accepted in the summer only for O’Riley to decide against leaving Celtic Park.
According to the football website TEAMTalk, Brentford is reportedly keeping a close eye on the Denmark U21 international and may be preparing an offer before the January transfer window. As a result, Leeds United will need to decide whether to rekindle their interest in the player
“I also don’t like that we always have to be concerned by something, so if you’d offered me third place after a really difficult summer break and said at the end of August we’d be in third place and the top six with a proper point tally, many people would have said that would be great if we’re in this position.”
Leeds have a chance to close that gap this afternoon, even if it’s only short-lived. The Whites kick off at 12.30 p.m. at Elland Road, meaning the gap could be back down to six points before Ipswich have the chance to respond.
