shocking speed, the president of the Atlanta Braves officially reached an agreement to sign the newest Cy Young winner.

The Atlanta Braves finished above 100 wins for the second consecutive season last season, and fans saw Spencer Strider develop into a true ace. And yet, the Braves lost in four games in the NLDS for the second straight season.

Strider fulfilled his promise in the postseason in 2023, making two starts and limiting opponents to an ERA of 2.84. However, Bryce Elder (20.25 ERA) and Max Fried (6.75 ERA) had rough starts, which made things difficult for Atlanta.

The president of the Atlanta Braves officially reached agreements to sign the most newest Cy Young winner with stunning speed.

The Braves are thought to be the favorites to trade for Chicago White Sox 2022 Cy Young winner Dylan Cease, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

Cease, who led MLB with 33 starts but had an ERA of 4.58, is coming off a season that was below average by his standards. But Cease’s 3.72 FIP indicates that Chicago’s defense wasn’t that great. Nevertheless, it’s reasonable to argue that Cease wasn’t quite as good as he was in 2022, when he led MLB with just 78 walks and recorded a 1.109 WHIP.

Put another way, the White Sox would seem to be selling low on Cease, who is under team control through the 2026 season, as they are seemingly set on trading the 28-year-old.

However, Cease trade talks have not only mentioned the Braves. The Baltimore Orioles were also selected by Nightengale as favorites, and other teams are undoubtedly in the running.
