Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Nottingham Forest now sign Anthony Elanga from Manchester United. The Reds have been working on a deal over the weekend, and now an announcement looks imminent.
It was claimed on Sky Sports News earlier that the player was undergoing a medical at the City Ground. Now, it looks as though the player has passed those checks with Romano dropping his ‘here we go’ motto.
Elanga is ending a long association with United. He’s risen through the academy ranks at Old Trafford, claiming eight goal contributions from 55 appearances during his time with the Red Devils.
In truth, the player is wise to be leaving United. He’s hardly been considered a first-team regular and under Erik ten Hag’s management, he’s found frequent football hard to come by
Elanga has turned down a switch to Everton in favour of a transfer to Forest. The club will pay £15 million to secure his services and he looks like a talented player for the future.
The United man is only 21-years-old and he should improve in the coming years. Now, Forest will hand him a long-term deal and hope that he can reach his full potential at the City Ground.
Furthermore, it’s now been claimed that Elanga will sign a five-year contract with Forest and an announcement is expected soon.
Romano says Forest have sign Elanga
This one looks like it’s very close to being finalised. The medical has gone through and it would appear that the Reds have got their man over the lie.
Elanga looks like an exciting signing for Forest. He is still a youngster, however, and perhaps the fan base will have to remain patient with the winger.
Forest definitely need an injection of some quality to their frontline. Taiwo Awoniyi was the top goalscorer last term but some more depth is required.
The youngster is also a good signing for registration purposes. As he’s under 22, Forest won’t need to include Elanga in their 25-man squad and given the size of the squad, that will be helpful.
United are keen to sell players this summer as they go in search of a new centre-forward. Elanga might be sad to leave Old Trafford behind but now he has a genuine chance to become a real fan favourite with Forest.
