Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has heaped praise on new signing James Maddison following his move from Leicester City.
James Maddison has been hailed as ‘amazing’ by Tottenham Hotspur teammate Yves Bissouma.
Spurs kicked off the Ange Postecoglou era on Tuesday as they faced London rivals West Ham United in Australia.
This didn’t quite go to plan for Tottenham; they were 2-0 down at half time before roaring back to 2-2.
West Ham still found a way to win though, securing a 3-2 victory as Postecoglou started with a defeat.
Ultimately, it’s only pre-season; Postecoglou won’t be panicking just yet, especially after witnessing some superb attacking football.
Tottenham were playing intricate football around the box and took 30 shots at the West Ham goal.
On another day, more of those go in – but it just wasn’t to be for Tottenham on Tuesday.
One piece of play saw Yves Bissouma and James Maddison link up on the edge of the box with some neat interplay eventually seen Bissouma force a fine save from Lukasz Fabianski.
The is the kind of thing Tottenham fans just didn’t see under Antonio Conte and whilst Spurs lost, this approach is a breath of fresh air.
This style of play seems ideal for both Bissouma and Maddison, who should have big campaigns for Spurs.
Bissouma has now moved to praise Maddison whilst speaking to Football London
Bissouma suggested that Maddison is a simply ‘amazing player’ and that he will Tottenham ‘a lot’ moving forward.
Maddison completed a move to Tottenham earlier this summer, leaving Leicester City following their relegation from the Premier League.
It’s a move which Bissouma seemingly loves, Maddison is now expected to be Tottenham’s chief playmaker – and the Malian is already really impressed, hailing Maddison as a ‘really good guy’.
“Everyone knows he’s an amazing player. We know he’s going to help us a lot with his experience,” said Bissouma. “We’re confident with him. We’re trying to push him like we push each other. He’s a really good guy. We’re happy to be with him and we know he’s going to help the team,” he added.
