Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Danish central defender Victor Nelsson.
A report from Takvim earlier this week linked Spurs with a strong interest in signing Nelsson during the summer transfer window
It was claimed that Galatasaray’s director, Erden Timur, traveled to London for talks with Tottenham, regarding the player’s potential transfer with the club willing to sell him for €25 million.
And Turkish outlet Sporx gave the latest on it yesterday claiming that Spurs made an initial offer of €13 million for the defender but the bid was swiftly rejected by Timur.
It further said that the sporting director has conveyed to Spurs that they would not accept a penny less than his €25m release clause. It added that Spurs will now return with a second bid.
And according to today’s report by Turkish outlet T24, Spurs have made a €25m offer for the central defender. The report claims that Tottenham have ‘reached an agreement’ with Nelsson and are ‘ready to pay’ his release clause.
While Galatasaray may not be keen on letting Nelsson go, his desire for a new challenge and the substantial transfer fee involved have helped open the door to negotiations. The Turkish club are reportedly eyeing Mauro Icardi and Milot Rashica as potential replacements.
While Nelsson may not be the high-profile signing that some Tottenham fans were hoping for, his addition to the squad could bolster a defense in need of improvement. With the potential departures of players like Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez in the summer, Nelsson’s arrival could provide a valuable boost to the team.
