Even Donovan Mitchell, a well-known supporter of the New York Mets who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, had to give credit to the New York Yankees after watching their lineup.
It’s unlikely that Mitchell will abandon the Yankees anytime soon, even with their grudging regard.
Donovan Mitchell Sr., his father, is the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Mets. Since 1992, Mitchell Sr. has played professional baseball. Before joining the Mets organisation as a Minor League manager and coach, he began his career as a player in the minor league ranks with the Astros.
When Mitchell Jr. was employed by the Mets Minor League organisation, he spent a great deal of time with his father. Junior was constantly in the clubhouse making friends with guys like Josh Thole and Scott Kazmir while Dad was busy getting ready for the game. Junior even served as a bat boy for the Kingsport Mets, who were the team’s rookie at the time.
The top five hitters in the Yankees’ lineup are Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Anthony Volpe, and Juan Soto. After sweeping a doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday, the team’s record is at 12-3.
