Former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Nic Anderson has announced his transfer to the LSU Tigers, marking a significant addition to LSU’s receiving corps for the upcoming season.
Anderson, a 6-foot-4, 216-pound receiver from Katy, Texas, emerged as a standout during his redshirt freshman year at Oklahoma in 2023. He set a freshman record for the Sooners by hauling in 38 receptions for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 21 yards per catch.
Unfortunately, his momentum was halted in 2024 due to a significant quadriceps injury sustained during fall camp, which limited him to just one game that season.
Seeking a fresh start, Anderson entered the transfer portal on December 5, 2024, and quickly garnered interest from several programs. After visiting LSU, he committed to the Tigers on December 17, 2024.
At LSU, Anderson joins a receiving unit that has been actively reinforced through the transfer portal. His commitment follows the additions of former Kentucky receiver Barion Brown and Florida State’s Destyn Hill, both of whom bring speed and playmaking abilities to the Tigers’ offense. Anderson’s size and downfield threat are expected to complement these new teammates, providing quarterback Garrett Nussmeier with a diverse array of targets.
Nussmeier, who is anticipated to be a Heisman contender in 2025, will benefit from Anderson’s ability to stretch the field and make contested catches. The Tigers’ offense, already one of the SEC’s top passing attacks in 2024, aims to further elevate its performance with these new additions.
Anderson’s move to LSU also sets up a notable reunion. The Tigers are scheduled to face Oklahoma in Norman for the 2025 season finale, providing Anderson an opportunity to compete against his former team.
Beyond his on-field contributions, Anderson brings a strong football lineage to Baton Rouge. His brother, Rodney Anderson, was a standout running back at Oklahoma and played for the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL. Another brother, Ryder Anderson, has experience in the NFL as a defensive lineman.
As LSU continues to bolster its roster through strategic acquisitions, Anderson’s blend of size, speed, and proven production positions him as a key component in the Tigers’ offensive plans for the 2025 season. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how his talents translate to the competitive landscape of SEC football.
