Draymond Green, a key player for the Golden State Warriors, was put in charge of defending New York Knicks center Jalen Brunson on Monday night.
That did not go as planned, as Brunson defeated the Warriors with 34 points en route to a convincing road victory.
In the most recent installment of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green discussed how difficult it is to downplay Brunson.
Green added, via DJ on Twitter, “It’s hard, almost impossible, to guard him in pick and roll.”
According to Green, Brunson is performing at a “All-NBA level” and can score points for his team in a variety of ways.
In addition to shooting from the outside and making clutch floaters and mid-range jumpers, he can get low into the post and score.
According to Green, Brunson is “crafty” with his body and can slide past most opponents in a pick-and-roll scenario.
In that kind of situation, even someone as competent, skilled, and experienced as Green is terrified of Brunson and would much rather watch over Brunson one-on-one.
Green mentioned that when Brunson was still with the Dallas Mavericks, he and the Warriors met each other in the playoffs a couple years ago.
Green claims that even though Brunson pleased him back then, he has improved significantly as a player since joining the Knicks.
Brunson is averaging 27.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game while shooting 47.8% from the field this season.
As Green stated, since moving to New York, he has improved both as a shooter and—more importantly—as a leader.
Brunson’s 2023–24 season has been outstanding; it has earned him recognition from all across the league and his first All-Star appearance.
Everyone can notice how amazing Brunson is playing this year, including rivals like Green.
