Miami has won eight of their previous ten games and is at 32-25.
Despite having fewer players than usual because of injuries and suspensions, the Miami Heat had a fantastic night on the road as they defeated the Sacramento Kings on Monday. After the game, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Bam Adebayo, and head coach Erik Spoelstra discussed the incredible victory and said it did not matter in the end since they had enough to get by.Some may have predicted a loss going into this game due to the absence of notable players like Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Terry Rozier, Nikola Jovic, and others. But counting out big players on a Spoelstra-coached Heat team is a surefire way to end things, and this team’s mentality is aptly summed up by the saying “We have enough.”
It was never in doubt for Spoelstra as he was confident in the players in the win over the Kings as Miami used their 30th different starting lineup. The Heat’s head coach said that his players “love competition and love these kinds of scenarios” according to Ira Winderman of The Sun Sentinel.
“We have guys that love competition and love these kinds of scenarios,” Spoelstra said. “Look, these are our rotation guys, so don’t undersell them at all. Our guys have a competitive edge just to get desperate to try to find a way to win. That’s what it was at the end.”
Bam Adebayo coming up huge for short-handed Heat
Star and captain Bam Adebayo carried the team’s burden in the absence of several important players, and he led the group with a superb performance. He put on a multi-talented performance that saw him score 28 points, grab 10 rebounds, and dish out seven assists.
After the game, Spoelstra gave the media high marks for Adebayo’s performance and discussed how useful he was on both ends of the court. He is shooting 51.5 percent from the field and averaging 20.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game so far this season.
Spoelstra remarked, “Bam was sensational on both ends of the court tonight.” “And he simply gave us those enormous buckets in the closing seconds and the free throws.”
Adebayo is off to a strong start this season following the All-Star break because he played a major role in last Friday’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Following the match, the 26-year-old said he was certain Spoelstra would “call my number” during the contest.
“It seems like you have that mindset when you have guys out,” Adebayo remarked. “Obviously, Coach called my number a lot tonight, and I made plays with the top two guys out.”
