The point deductions given to Nottingham Forest and Everton for breaking financial laws have drawn criticism from the chief executive of one of the team’s relegation rivals.
Forest has lost four points for exceeding their permissible spending limit of £61 million by £34.5 million, in violation of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules. The club has appealed the fine, and a decision is anticipated later this month.
In November, the Toffees received a 10-point deduction; however, the deduction was lowered to six on appeal. They were subsequently deducted two points earlier this week for a second PSR charge; the team has stated that they will contest the penalty.

Luton Town CEO Gary Sweet said on BBC Radio Three Counties, “It’s quite astonishing really,” in response to Everton’s most recent penalty. The fact that the independent commission that determined the severity of the punishment obviously hasn’t done a thorough investigation is one of the things that disappoints me. Everton and Nottingham Forest’s “completely crazy” point deductions have been attacked by a relegation rival.
