Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are joined by other European clubs in the race to sign İstanbul Başakşehir FK goalkeeper Deniz Dilmen, according to Sporx.
The 18-year-old came up through the ranks of the Turkish club’s youth system and made his first team towards the end of last season, in his side’s 3-2 win over Adana Demirspor on June 3rd.
After his senior debut, Başakşehir manager Emre Belözoğlu heaped praise on the stopper desired by Everton, Wolves and others.
“The best goalkeeper among his age. An immaculate boy. He has to improve himself a lot. He has in front of him valuable brothers like Volkan and Muhammed. They also help him a lot. We think that we will bring a very important goalkeeper for Turkish football,” Sporx quoted Belözoğlu as saying.
The teenager’s fine form, profile and potential for growth has drawn the attention of the Premier League duo, Villarreal and AC Milan. It’s stated these four clubs ‘will start official contacts’ with İstanbul Başakşehir to sign him.
Sporx further claims Everton, Wolves and other two clubs want to take advantage of the fact that he has a year left on his deal.
Aware of the interest from the European clubs, the report explains that Dilmen’s employer are trying to tie him down to an improved three-year deal.
It’ll be interesting to see how this case develops.
