Salernitana have officially opted for another coaching change, their third this campaign, firing Fabio Liverani after just five matches and handing the job to Stefano Colantuono, who was already part of the team as head of the youth system.
The former Lecce manager replaced Filippo Inzaghi and was gone after just five games. In the dugout, La Bersagliera lost four occasions and drew once. It is in dead last position with just 14 points after nine games remaining, and it is behind 17th place by double digits.
Colantuono is starting his third stint as a reserve with Salernitana. He was their manager for a few months in Serie B in 2017 and 2018, as well as for the last few games of their complicated ownership transition two seasons ago. In total, he has 14 victories, 15 ties, and 25 defeats. He had previously resided in Atalanta, Palermo, Torino, and Udinese.
They have been moribund for months, so they are packing it in, realizing that there is no hope left. Their performance under Liverani wasn’t completely bad, despite the fact that the results didn’t improve; nonetheless, it appears that there is also complete uncertainty behind the scenes.
