finally: David Prutton predicts outcome of Leeds United’s match against Leicester City….

This evening Leeds United travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in a “heavyweight” Championship battle.

With 25 points from 14 games, the Whites have been in and around the top two in practically every Championship season since its start.

However, they are nine points behind the top two and 14 points behind leaders Leicester City, who have set a pretty ridiculous pace thus far.

Leeds will be searching for their first Premier League victory over Leicester since a 3-1 victory under Marcelo Bielsa in the 20/21 season, having failed to win in the four meetings since.

Much has changed for both clubs since the fatal 1-1 draw at the end of April, when both were relegated, but they both appear to be in good enough shape to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking – Leicester obviously more so.

David Prutton of Sky Sports has published his prediction for the match, predicting a 2-2 tie, with the following justification:

“A true heavyweight clash to get things started on Friday night.” Leicester City appear to be unstoppable. They’re setting records everywhere, but this is by far their most difficult test of the season.

“Leeds have the same number of points as Burnley at this point last season, but they may need to win here to keep pace with the top two.” It’s a massive game. “I believe the Foxes can be stopped.”

A draw would leave Leeds on 26 points, preserving the deficit at 14, and the home side on 40.

I’m sure a lot of Leeds fans would accept a point right now just to keep within striking distance of Leicester.

Leeds would very surely lose the league crown if they lost to them, creating an unassailable 17-point margin.

The Foxes don’t appear to be dropping that many points over the season, let alone being overtaken.

A win for Leeds would be important in terms of making a statement in the Championship, transforming us into a team to be feared.
