BBC NEWS: finally Georginio Rutter’s transfer to Borussia Dortmund is finalized with Leeds.

According to reports Borussia Dortmund was interested in acquiring Leeds United’s gifted attacker Georginio Rutter in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund had a highly tumultuous transfer window this past summer, and they added four first-team players to make up for the loss of several important players. Late in the transfer window, Edin Terzic’s team strengthened their offense by bringing in Niclas Füllkrug. The Athletic also reported that BVB was considering making an offer for Georginio Rutter.

The report claims that Leeds United received a phone call from an intermediary representing Borussia Dortmund in the summer. They were told that BVB liked Rutter, and had the budget needed to sign him.

The Black and Yellows valued the 21 year old at just over 20 million euros. But Leeds United did not want to sell him – especially for that fee – despite their relegation from the English Premier League at the end of last season.

In the end, Borussia Dortmund’s interest did not amount to anything and Georginio Rutter stayed at Leeds United. The former TSG Hoffenheim forward has enjoyed an encouraging start to the season, and has two goals and two assists to his name in seven appearances in England’s second division.
