While next offseason will feature a number of players from the 2020 NBA Draft receiving big paydays, one surprising name emerged as one who could potentially seek a monster contract.
forward Patrick Williams is among the names in the mix to get a new deal, but ESPN’s Zach Lowe dropped an eye-opening bit of insight into that situation on “The Lowe Post” podcast while speaking with Bobby Marks.
“I’m hearing Patrick Williams wants big, big numbers. Like starts with a 2 and isn’t 2-0 [$20 million] kind of stuff, potentially,” Lowe said.
He proceeded to dive deeper into that potential scenario and admitted that while he’s a fan of Williams, he’s not sure he’d buy in at a number quite that high.
m a card-carrying member of the ‘I’ll never be out on Patrick Williams’ — I just don’t know if I want to be that ‘in’ right now,” Lowe concluded.
Marks, who is ESPN’s NBA front-office insider admitted that he’s “not $24-$25 million per year ‘in'” when it comes to Williams as well.
It was certainly an interesting rumor to hear, all things considered. Williams has averaged, 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game per game over his career thus far, which spans 170 total games.
For good measure, he has shot 47.7 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three-point range while attempting the most shots from beyond the arc of his career in 2022-23.
