FINALLY: Rangers star presses his way back from injury to score for the B Team…

As he intensified his comeback from injury, Rangers star Kieran Dowell scored for the B team but was unable to stop them from losing the SPFL Trust Trophy.

This issue has plagued the 26-year-old Ibrox summer signing since the first leg 2-2 Champions League playoff tie against PSV Eindhoven.

Returning to the first team during last week’s 5-0 demolition of Dundee, Kieran Dowell was snapped stepping up his injury recovery in the Rangers B clash with Airdrieonians.

However, Kieran Dowell was powerless to resist as the young bears crashed out of the tournament after following to a 4-2 defeat against the Scottish Championship side.

Rangers took the lead in the match through Josh Gentles before Airdrie – led by ex-Ibrox midfielder and player/manager Rhys McCabe – flipped the script before half time.

Eventually going 3-1 in front, Kieran Dowell stepped up his injury return with a goal for the B side, with Cole McKinnon hitting the bar to prevent an equaliser.

Rhys McCabe curled in a free kick to complete the scoring and send Rangers B out of the SPFL Trust Trophy.

Kieran Dowell accelerates the Rangers’ injury comeback
Kieran Dowell contributed 75 minutes to the game, and his comeback from injury will be aided by his appearance.

Because the former star of Norwich City is not in the roster, Rangers will not be able to utilize the midfielder against Sparta Prague this week in the Europa League.

Due to a combination of injury concerns and homegrown players, former Rangers manager Michael Beale made the difficult decision to remove both Kieran Dowell and Ridvan Yilmaz off the roster.

Rangers may play without up to eight first-team players as a result. Hopefully, Kieran Dowell will soon return from injury and score for the winning team.

Dowell, a midfielder, has made seven appearances for Rangers. His only goal came during the team’s opening 4-0 victory over Livingston.
